Information, advice and guidance aims to enable young people to make decisions about their future and to progress successfully through learning and into work.
Supporting young people through decisions and transitions is a significant part of the role of anyone working with learners in the 14-19 age range.
The programme offers face-to-face support for effective IAG in two ways:
This module adds elements of IAG to other Diploma Support themes. It can be included in Inside the Diploma, the line of learning networks and other relevant modules, with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of IAG.
Topics include information on impartial IAG, supporting progression and learner decision-making, using labour market information (LMI) and sources of IAG support.
When you apply for a module that could have some IAG input, check with your consortium lead that IAG topics are being included. Consortium leads can request IAG topics when arranging their events.
If you are a network lead and would like IAG input to one of your line of learning network events, please liaise with your National Diploma Line Lead (NDLL).
IAG leads, local authority and consortium members who are responsible for IAG provision in their consortium can access support from their regional SSAT IAG Champion according to local need. This can include:
